
Tackle Football
The Simsbury Youth Football program is a tackle football program. The program is organized into 3 divisions and competes in the Connecticut Nutmeg Youth Football League.
The league has 9 well- established teams which include - Berlin, Farmington Valley, Granby, Middletown, Simsbury, South Windsor, Southington, West Hartford and Wethersfield.
Ages
- The A division is 7th & 8th graders.
- The B division is 5th & 6th graders.
- The C division is 3rd & 4th graders.
The tackle division is open to boys and girls entering 3rd - 8th grade in the fall.
2nd graders may be allowed to play at the coach's discretion.
No player may turn 15 before September 1st.
When
The football season begins in late July and ends in early November. In addition to the regular season, the league provides a playoff scheme culminating with a championship game for each division which will be played on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
Where
Practices are held at Weatogue Park and all home games are played at the Simsbury High School turf field.
Practices
Mandatory pre-season practices begin Monday, August 4th.

- 6:00-8:00 PM

Once the school year starts each team will practice 2 nights a week, Saturday mornings.
Games
Our season consists of 9 weeks of regular season play and a potential of up to 3 post seasons weeks.
Each team will play 8 regular season games and have 1 bye week.
Games are typically held on Sundays, with the potential for 1 or 2 Saturday afternoon/night games.
The full game schedule should be available by mid August.
The league provides the following
Items player will keep:
- Game day pants
- Game day socks
- Practice Jersey
Items players are responsible for turning in at the end of the season:
- Helmet
- Guardian cap
- Shoulder pads
- Game day Jersey
Fees
2025 registration fee is $350
Aside from what the league provides you are responsible for purchasing:
- Cleats
- Protective cup
- Mouth guard
- Practice pants
Residency Requirements
It is Nutmeg League requirement that all players playing for Simsbury Youth Football must have at least one parent who lives in Simsbury or they must be attending school in Simsbury for the 2025-2026 School year.
SYFCL Refund Policy
ALL Registration Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE
Exceptions to this policy may be requested to the President, in special circumstances such as injury or relocation.
Choosing not to play, losing interest in the sport, expulsion due to a violation of our code of conduct policy or moving to another local program do not, in the view of Simsbury Youth Football & Cheer League (SYFCL) , qualify for a refund.
If a refund is approved, it would be less any fees and expenses incurred by SYFCL - including, but not limited to - financial processing fees, uniform and equipment already ordered.
